Well you could try it, but give the name of somebody you feel like playing a trick on, the reply could be amusing.

This should be banned under the Geneva Convention:

You’d get points for honesty that’s for sure.

  4. Lola Says:

Mmmm, I really wish I could say that too but unfortunately money is needed at this moment. Oh well, I only got another week. But it may be worth a try, you could amuse them so much they want to give you the day off… or maybe not.

so much for the complaints about all these people drinking too much alcohol in too high temperatures and the results thereof… ;-)

I used to work for a company which had exactly that policy - they allowed you 2 days per year (which would be deducted from your holiday allowance) to call in and say something like “I’m sorry but I am feeling to well to come into work today”

The rules were that you cannot do this if it would severely inconvenience the company i.e. other colleagues were away or had already called in - you have an important project in hand and could be considered to be using this rule to get out of it - other than that I think it was a very enlightened policy.

“Hello, is that the Human resources? This is Ian Paul Freely. The weather is too lovely so I am afraid, I can’t come in today. I have to go to the pubs beer garden.”

“has your line manager, ok this day off,”

“Yes, he ha……” interupted by HR woman ” We dont have a Ian Paul Freely working here!!! (sniggers in the background down phone then faint voice) I P Freely” phone goes dead.

    oh well

“Hello, is that the Resource Centre? Oh, hi Tony, this is Mark Myers. I’m afraid I’m not feeling too good, and I’m reporting sick. Okay? Thanks. Bye.”

There. That’s not too difficult, is it?

  9. Mark Myers Says:

Of course, when reporting “sick”, it is best not to post on your blog that you are planning to do so ;-)

A friend of mine recently took a day off work.
He rang it in as “accidently hung over”, and then went to see the Works Manager the next day.
Upon explaining that a very old friend had turned up out of the blue with a bottle of nice red wine and a bottle of much nicer single malt, which due to friends state of mind (v.depressed) they had assaulted. He then apologised and was told that they’d put it down as a legitimate sick day.
One day he’ll thank me for getting him that job!
