Today I turned down a chance to appear on Richard and Judy talking about blogs. Alright, they only wanted me because Reynolds is on holiday, but it was an exciting opportunity nonetheless. I said no because I had put my name down for an overtime shift and would have had to cancel with only a couple of hours’ notice to attend.

I hope my managers will remember this selfless act of dedication to the Nee Naw Service next time I am up for promotion!

Aw - the same show that Petite Anglaise was on?! (Mentions it in her post, follow-up in the comments.) She’s unemployed right now, so she could at least attend on short notice.

Woot! Don’t forget us when you’re famous :)

The British tend to be polite, so maybe this sort of thing doesn’t happen there, but in the US there is a certain type of person who sneers at bloggers as “pyjama-clad do-nothings.” (The type is, for instance, TV pundits who aren’t real clear on the difference between an Etch-A-Sketch and a laptop.)

Well, only the chattering classes can drop everything on a couple hours’ notice. No wonder the bloggers on TV seem to be unemployed….

Don’t worry, Mark. WIth a blog as good as this, your day will come. Hopefully, you won’t have to achieve unemployment to get there!

    @ quixote

The sketches and interview choices are probably selected with the wide support of the news departments who feel threatened by citizen reporting.

Perpetuate the myth that blogging is unreliable, unsubstantiated gossip-mongering and it’ll keep you on that 6-7 figure salary a couple of years longer.

Or was it you wanted to keep the air of mystery so we didn’t know what you look like… ;)

  10. Carmelo Says:

We know what he looks like! You think the floating head isn’t a real life portrait?! People these days…;)

Are you as pretty as petite though? Keep up the good work. Have been reading you for a while now and like it.

  12. Jo Says:

If you write a book, I’ll buy it. After all, I bought Reynolds’, so it’s only fair :-)

And I think it’s great that you have such a professional attitude and didn’t just ring up work and tell them you wouldn’t be in. (I guess that sounds a bit sarcastic but it’s not meant to be!)

  13. Tom Reynolds Says:

Well I’m sulking that I was away at the time…

Anyway, you are much more photogenic than I - perhaps I could use you for my public appearances?
