I’m curious: given the excesses which go on in pubs round here on St Patrick’s night, is tonight regarded as a small-scale New Years Eve in ambulance-control circles ?
Elizabeth, St Patrick’s Day is usually a busy night for us, especially if it falls on a weekend, but nowhere near as busy as New Year’s Eve. Fortunately I am not in today anyway. (I will be in on NYE again though, for the third year in a row… gah!)
I know my rota for the next three years. It’s the same five week pattern over and over again, so with the aid of Excel you can work out what your shifts are for the rest of your life if you want. I do tend to plan things well in advance because these shifts make a social life etc very awkward.
Of course when I got promoted to allocator I changed teams and my rota went forwards a week and I nearly had a mental breakdown over it
that's almost as awful as the fellow I had who "Ate A Chilli Chesse Dog" and swore he was having a heart attack, turns out he just needed to burp….badly…and loudly….cheers from a medical first responder for St. John in Canada

Eugh. Sounds like a cry for help on a par with a dozen packs of paracetamol to me.

What?! I ate one of these literally fifteen minutes ago. They’re delicious!

Actually, considering the amount of vinegar I usually sprinkle on tuna, that doesn’t sound so bad to me either.

“I will be in on NYE again though”
You know that NOW? They have you scheduled that far in advance? That’s scary.
