Phantom Appendix
“What’s the problem?”
“I’ve got appendicitis!”
“How do you know it’s appendicitis?”
“Because I had it before! And I had to go to hospital! And have my appendix out!”
“You had your appendix out?”
“Yes.”
“And you think you have appendicitis?”
“Yes!”
“In your appendix?”
“Yes!!!”
“Which you had taken out?”
“Oh…”

What M2KB said. Plus you should be allowed to post out ‘to stupid to live’ tee shirts.

I know this sounds even more stupid but it could happen and something similar has happened. It is not unknown for for people to be born with two appendixes (appendices ?) - or at least one and the partial formation of a second one - in the same way that being born with one or three kidneys is not unknown.
I did once read of a documented case where someone complained that their symptoms were exactly the same as when they previously had appendicitis. After extreme scepticism doctors examined and eventually located and removed the second partial appendix which cured the problem

I just hope I never think I need the services of an ambulance and ring and say something stupid and end up here.
Maybe I did just say something stupid and ended up here anyway.
Oh well, at least I put myself here.Self degradation and all that.

I’ve posted this to the student midwives website, because I think they will like it… just their sort of thing. (hope that’s ok!)
And hopefully it will bring you more avid readers like me!

Stupid it may be, but the Lawyers in States make fortunes here on such elementary mistakes as leaving their cutters, remove the wrong leg or some other appendage. Doctors Mal-practice Insurance rates be thru the roof. Do tell me it does NOT happen in Blighty.

I just had a stmp appendix removed. Same symptoms as my first appendicitis 6 years ago. It seems the surgeon left a 2 centimeter stump and it created a sort of pocket that caught a “stone” which caused inflammation. The new surgeon had to go in and remove the leftover appendix so this couldn’t happen again. So, you see, 2 appendectomies are not impossible. Inexcusable, yes but impossible, no.
