You should use voiceprint technology, call tracing technology, and the phone providers should all be under court order to shut down his disposable cellphones at the first usage. The bars of a prison cell make a great Faraday cage; maybe *his* room should be surrounded by steel bars.

As an experienced CFR and nurse, I had a direct line to Ambulance Control: a number for routine calls and a number for emergency calls.

If I came across something, it is so easy to ring up and say, "Ruraltown Responder here; ambulance required to 123 High Street, 28yo female with difficulty in breathing, am on scene." And I'd get one, just like that, whereas if I ring 999 and go through it that way, I've found it so much more time-consuming when I could be providing reassurance to my casualty or carrying out obs, such as BP monitoring, or running through the full SAMPLER history. I had one recently to a lady who was blatantly having cardiac trouble (presented with shortness of breath and heart palpitations, amongst other things and had history of said complaint) and instead of keeping her calm I had to deal with an irate call taker who insisted on taking me through the questions for meningitis (which I'd already asked the casualty anyway). She eventually asked if she could just talk to the patient (who was short of breath!)

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated...I've been reading from your final post to here so far!

This is great. I pretty much died laughing (but neglected to call 911 for resuscitation). I work at a call center as well, and though we don't handle emergencies, we do handle "leaves" for people that are unable to work due to medical incapacity. This example of yours, number 11, " If you don’t know the answer to a question, provide an irrelevant piece of information instead: “Is he changing colour?” “He’s in a lot of pain”. “Has she passed out?” “She is upstairs”. “Is she conscious?” “She’s a black woman”." is so true. Every day i ask, "will you be missing work sporadically or in a block of time?" and get the answer, "Oh I've had this condition for years". It's a wonder these people don't hear my teeth grinding loudly in the background towards the end of the day. Just to clarify though, I realize that these people usually don't know what they're getting in to when I start a leave for them, and their main priority at the time is to work on getting to a point where they're healthy enough to work, but sometimes it just drives me crazy (especially on the extra high call volume days with extra tasks to process from people reporting absences on holidays).

Having a regular caller might be a disgusting experience if the caller do it just for fun. As caller, we should b responsible enough by doing this especially to emergency stations because if e do it for fun we just waste their time and doing non sense. We should consume everyone's time a valuable one instead of wasting it.

I like talking as well and previously I was working in call centers and taking lots of calls. Sometimes callers are just fooling around and they just want to talke to someone just to release their emotions. But if they dial 999, probably they are experiencing something bad so be better help them or else.

I have been a cfr for some time now and I work alone and I certainly DO jump when the pager goes but I chose to join the system and do what I can.I attend many calls because of the rural area that I live in,
The only thing that gives me a kick is the look of releif on peoples faces when you walk through the door whether I am a part timer OR a full timer.Help has arrived!
I seek no glory whether the outcome is succesful or whether it is sad.The glory comes naturaly because if the patient lives you DO get some satisfaction just knowing that you were able to help and if the outcome is grim then the satisfaction comes from knowing that you were there to give a little help and comfort to the next of kin which can be at times just as harrowing.
